All Stars on deck!

Unlike 2016, the cream of the crop is on show

Rugby League Week - - News - JOE MCDONOUGH

AYEAR AGO, A RAFT OF INJURIES, THE World Club Challenge, a child’s birth, and even Super Bowl 50 all conspired to water down the talent in the All Stars match.

Johnathan Thurston was helping the Cowboys conquer Leeds, Simon Mannering was becoming a proud father for the second time, Robbie Farah was in California watching Denver win their third title, Sam Burgess was rested, and eight others pulled out through injury.

But fear not – there won’t be a repeat this Friday night.

Thurston returns to partner Rookie of the Year Ash Taylor in the halves, playing behind a starstudded Indigenous All Stars pack, and they’ll have the likes of Greg Inglis and Jack Bird running off them out wide.

The World All Stars have lost Jarryd Hayne after he succumbed to a knee injury at the Nines, and they’ve also replaced Joey Leilua and Sosaia Feki. But boasting the flair of Mitchell Moses, Bryce Cartwright and Moses Mbye, they’re sure to have plenty of admirers.
