Griffin’s big impact on the big men

Rugby League Week - - News -

M ARK GEYER LOVES GOOD FORWARD PLAY as much as anyone in the game, and he’s seen the Panthers pack go full steam ahead under Anthony Griffin.

“Reagan Campbell-Gillard has gone to the next level as far as playing with injuries goes,” Geyer says.

“Isaah Yeo has come ahead in leaps and bounds, so now he’s one of the first forwards picked.

“Leilani Latu has turned into a rep forward under Griffin, and young James Fisher-Harris is a rep star of the future.

“Griffin is more of a forwards coach but when you don’t complicate it and everyone knows where they stand, it makes life easier for the backs as well.

“The best thing is that there’s no superstar they rely on. Trent Merrin and Bryce Cartwright are pivotal to victory, but it’s not the end of the world when they’re injured.

“It’s just a really good team environment where they enjoy their footy.”
