RLW prediction: 6th
2016 finish: Ninth Co-coach Shane Walker: After a dominant 2015 in which they won the comp, the Jets fell back last year due mainly to a talent drain. Walker says that’s in the past: “In the backs, from one to seven, we have a lot of competition for spots. All of the guys there have speed to burn, a great skill set and they are all in great shape. This season the Jets will play razzle-dazzle football. We will probably push the envelope even more, keeping the ball alive and keeping it off the opposition for even longer. We may not ever give it back to them.” Player to watch: “Luke Capewell is one of the best support players we have ever seen at any level of our game. Given that we make a lot of offloads and half-breaks, I think he is in for one hell of a season and will amass a lot of tries this year. A lot of people see opportunities, but he is always there to capitalise.”
KEY GAINS: Luke Capewell (Redcliffe Dolphins), Denzel King (Northern Pride), Jayden Connors (Gold Coast Titans NYC/Grafton Ghosts), Sig Manu Wigness (Badu Island), Isaac Crichton (Sydney Roosters NYC)
KEY LOSSES: Carlin Anderson (Townsville Blackhawks), David Fa’alogo (retired), Haydan Lipp (Sunshine Coast Falcons)
“ONE OF THE BEST EVER” Jets co- coach Shane Walker has huge raps on new signing Luke Capewell.
