Intestinal cancer is the third most common type of cancer, but a cocktail of E. coli bacteria and broccoli may stop that. The bacteria are manipulated to settle on cancer cells and produce an enzyme that converts glucosinolates from broccoli and other vegetables, into a drug that attacks cancer cells. The drug reduced the number of tumours by 75% in mice with intestinal cancer.
