Army doing firing activity

People are advised that Exercise Chong Ju 2016 (EX CJ16) will be conducted within the Puckapunya­l Military Area today and tomorrow.

The exercise is an annual Australian Army combined arms live fire activity that showcases the capabiliti­es of elements from armour, artillery, engineers and infantry.

During the conduct of EX CJ16, residents may experience vibrations and hear the sounds of weapons firing and explosions.

The army is aware the community may be concerned about the noise and vibrations during this activity and will seek to ensure that the noise is confined to daylight hours only.

EX CJ16 is done in accordance with environmen­tal guidelines.

Any damage occurring to target areas during the conduct will be repaired under the direction of the environmen­tal officer, ensuring all environmen­tal, heritage and management guidelines are adhered to.
