Extra roads funding
Mitchell Shire Council will continue to advocate for additional roads network funding.
Cr Bob Humm’s notice of motion at the December meeting called on council to continue to advocate to the state and federal governments for increased funding opportunities for the maintenance, upgrade and development of the council’s sealed and unsealed road network.
‘‘This advocacy is to include both an increase in funding and the extension of the Federal Government’s current ‘Roads to Recovery’ program beyond 2018-2019,’’ he said.
‘‘And additional funding for the construction and upgrade of a number of critical infrastructure including interchanges and connector/ link roads in the south of the Shire to address current and future pressures on the existing road network which is required to service the northern growth corridor.’’
It was seconded by Cr Bill Chisholm and carried unanimously.
