New coach to head Avenel netball
A host of Kyabram District Netball League clubs have changed coaches as they look for an added advantage this season.
Reigning premier Avenel will enter the season looking to go back-to-back with new coach Tegan Hansen.
Injury sidelined Hansen last year, but she was assistant to head coach Kathryn Hard.
Going out on a high after coaching a grand final win and being crowned league best-andfairest, Hard made the difficult decision to call time on her playing career in Avenel.
Based in Melbourne, Hard said she needed a break from travelling for training and games, but did not rule out a return in the future.
The Swans will begin this year’s campaign with a grand final rematch against Nagambie.
From the most successful in the competition to last year’s wooden spooner, Jess Hill will take charge of Longwood as the side looks for a fresh approach.
The Redlegs did not win a game last year and have notched just one victory in three years.
Hill has plenty of experience to bring to the squad, having been the A-grade coach at Girgarre in 2014 and 2015.
The Redlegs began their preseason campaign on Sunday with Jac Martin, Jamie Francis and Nichole Hanson jointly coaching the B-grade squad.
Phil Bryant will enter into his second season with Murchison after a relatively successful last year.
Finals are within reach of the Grasshoppers this year, after the side finished just one spot outside the top six with eight wins.
Stepping up: New coach Tegan Hansen in her playing days with Avenel, reigning premier in the KDNL.
