Appealing total raised
More than $30 000 was raised in Seymour alone for this year’s Royal Children’s Hospital Good Friday Appeal.
Seymour Fire Station was a hive of activity on the day, as volunteers gathered before embarking on a door knock spree through the town.
‘‘We had a really good day,’’ organiser Mick Sanderson said.
‘‘We raised about $26 800, which is about the same as other years, and then Woolworths’ total of $3800 was added to ours, which took us over the $30 000 mark.’’
Volunteers from the fire brigade, the local SES unit and girl guides walked the streets of Seymour seeking donations.
The midnight total for the appeal was a record $17 605 662.
‘‘After 86 years of fundraising for The Royal Children’s Hospital, the Good Friday Appeal is always overwhelmed by the incredible support of the community and this year we’re thrilled to announce the 2017 midnight fundraising total is $17 605 662,’’ appeal director Anne Randall said.
