Com­mu­nity in­put re­quested

Mitchell Shire Coun­cil is en­cour­ag­ing the com­mu­nity to pro­vide in­put on sev­eral sig­nif­i­cant plans and doc­u­ments cur­rently out for pub­lic ex­hi­bi­tion.

The projects are on dis­play at www.en­gag­ing­mitchell­shire.com and are avail­able in hard copy from the coun­cil’s Cus­tomer and Li­brary Ser­vices Cen­tres in Sey­mour, Broad­ford, Kil­more and Wal­lan.

‘‘We un­der­stand there are a lot of projects out for pub­lic con­sul­ta­tion at the mo­ment, how­ever it is im­por­tant our com­mu­nity has the chance to have their say,’’ Mayor Rhonda San­der­son said.

‘‘Be­ing open and trans­par­ent with our com­mu­nity is a ma­jor pri­or­ity and there is no bet­ter way to do that than to seek their feed­back.’’

Draft bud­get and Strate­gic Re­source Plan 2017-18

Com­mu­nity feed­back is wel­comed on the 2017-18 draft bud­get, as well at the Strate­gic Re­source Plan, which out­lines the coun­cil’s fi­nan­cial tar­gets for the next four years.

Sub­mis­sions can be made on­line or by hard copy un­til 5 pm on May 23.

Sub­mis­sions will be con­sid­ered at the coun­cil’s Hear­ing Com­mit­tee Meet­ing on June 5, be­fore the bud­get and Strate­gic Re­source Plan are con­sid­ered for adop­tion at the coun­cil meet­ing on June 19.

Draft Coun­cil Plan 2017-21

The draft Coun­cil Plan 2017-21 out­lines the vi­sion of the coun­cil for the next four years and beyond, based on what the com­mu­nity wants and needs.

Sub­mis­sions can be made on­line or by hard copy un­til 5 pm on May 23.

Coun­cil­lor al­lowances

Un­der the Lo­cal Gov­ern­ment Act 1989, coun­cils must re­view and de­ter­mine the level of coun­cil­lor and may­oral al­lowance within six months of the Oc­to­ber 2016 gen­eral elec­tion, by June 30.

Sub­mis­sions are sought in re­la­tion to may­oral and coun­cil­lor al­lowances be­ing set and fixed at $24 730 and $76 521 per an­num re­spec­tively, which is within the Vic­to­rian Gov­ern­ment Cat­e­gory 2 al­lowance cat­e­gory for coun­cil­lors, for the next four fi­nan­cial years.

Sub­mis­sions must be re­ceived by 5 pm on May 23.

Sub­mis­sions will be heard at a Hear­ings Com­mit­tee meet­ing on June 13, be­fore be­ing con­sid­ered for adop­tion at the coun­cil meet­ing on June 19.
