St John’s Anglican church in Nagambie hosted a successful Christmas in July fundraising lunch and games afternoon recently.

The Christmas-themed tables, hats and regalia gave off a festive atmosphere that was enjoyed by everyone.

The Nagambie Lions Club helped to set up, serve and clear up the feast, while the lunch was provided by the parish.

Local entertainer Russell Turner sang Christmas songs and helped Santa be a hit with the kids.

Hamish the Scottish Puppet starred in a short Christmas play, assisted by Fr Gary Atherton and his wife Karen Atherton.

Peter Lejins, 17, was the Master of Ceremonies and Val Harvey was the quiz games mistress, and they led the teams through lively trivia and action games which took some concentration and skill.

The ‘left-handed helpers’ team led the academic games but were just pipped at the winning post by the ‘bibs and bobs’ team. The ‘Hamish’ team was third, while Coral’s table won the booby prize.

Lucky door prizes were drawn then the major raffle of the day.

First prize was won by Cheryl Mensfeld, second prize went to Glenys Lejins, and third was won by Peter Lejins.

St John’s would like to thank those who contributed to the day or came along and joined in the mid-year Christmas fun.
