Get ready for cup day

Seymour Telegraph - - SPORT -

As one of the premier country cups in Victoria, the $150 000 Godolphin Seymour Cup attracts many of the state’s leading trainers and jockeys. And 2017 is no exception. But there is more to cup day than the horses because it is also an opportunity for a seriously social day out — even the children are catered for.

Seymour Racing Club chief executive Penny Reeve has invited everyone to come and experience country hospitality with the marquee options or enjoy watching the races trackside on Sunday, October 22.

‘‘At the Godolphin Seymour Cup, there is fun for the whole family, with plenty of free children’s activities available, Victoria Jane Millinery Fashions on the Field with guest judges and fantastic prizes for each category, live entertainment and food trucks,’’ Ms Reeve said.

‘‘Godolphin Seymour Cup Day is a great way to entertain your family, friends and work colleagues.

“A day out at the Godolphin Seymour Cup is perfect for all ages and all different group sizes.

‘‘During spring, Seymour racecourse is a hive of activity and you can get up close to the excitement of the mounting yard, perch up at winning post to see your favourite horse cross the line, immerse yourself in the iconic bookies ring or simply browse behind the scenes in the stalls to see our equine stars and their strappers prepare for the race.’’

Ms Reeve said the club was also operating shuttle buses to and from the Seymour train station. Don’t miss next week’s

Seymour Telegraph for a feature preview of the 2017 Godolphin Seymour Cup.
