Un­safe tree to get chop

A pep­per­mint gum tree at Ju­bilee Park, Avenel, is sched­uled for re­moval af­ter it was iden­ti­fied as un­sta­ble and un­safe by qual­i­fied ar­borists.

While the tree is sit­u­ated on Crown Land, Strath­bo­gie Shire Coun­cil has an obligation to act in the in­ter­est of pub­lic safety ei­ther as the road man­ager, spec­i­fied un­der the Road Man­age­ment Act 2004, or as re­serves man­ager.

Coun­cil is ex­empt from re­quir­ing a plan­ning per­mit for the re­moval un­der the plan­ning scheme.
