Funds to en­gage youth

Lo­cal gov­ern­ment and com­mu­nity or­gan­i­sa­tions are be­ing en­cour­aged to ap­ply for youth fund­ing un­der the En­gage! 2018-20 pro­gram.

The pro­gram is of­fer­ing grants of be­tween $90 000 and $150 000 over three years for groups work­ing with young peo­ple to de­velop and de­liver ac­tiv­i­ties that en­gage a di­verse range of young peo­ple in their lo­cal com­mu­nity.

Mem­ber for Euroa, Steph Ryan, said these grants will pro­vide a broad range of ben­e­fits to young peo­ple.

‘‘They pro­vide the op­por­tu­nity for lo­cal gov­ern­ment and com­mu­nity or­gan­i­sa­tions to work with young peo­ple aged 12 to 25 years to de­velop ac­tiv­i­ties that will help im­prove their health and well­be­ing, so­cial con­nec­tions and their ed­u­ca­tion, train­ing and em­ploy­ment op­por­tu­ni­ties,’’ she said.

‘‘Pri­or­ity will be given to pro­pos­als that give young peo­ple the op­por­tu­nity to be part of the plan­ning and de­liv­ery of the pro­gram and which are in­clu­sive and ac­ces­si­ble for all young peo­ple in the lo­cal com­mu­nity.’’

Ap­pli­ca­tions for the En­gage! 2018-20 grants close on Fri­day and ap­pli­ca­tions for the Na­tional Youth Week 2018 grants close on Novem­ber 24.
