There were good fields and the races were keenly con­tested at the St Pats Races.

The course was pic­ture per­fect with green lawns, shady trees and the hills of Yea pro­vid­ing an ideal set­ting.

There was a pic­nic at­mos­phere among the crowd as they en­joyed day of good rac­ing.

Like last year, the win­ner of the Lark­field Es­tate St Pats Cup was Lard­ner Lou rid­den by Caitlin King and trained by Michelle Mur­ray from Sale.

It was a closely con­tested race with Larner Lou win­ning by a half head from Ri­ley’s Rocket.

Other races were spon­sored by Webb Pas­toral, Royal Mail Ho­tel, Red­drops FoodWorks, Black Range Es­tate and Pep­per­corn Ho­tel.

Fifty guests en­joyed fine din­ing in the club house with chefs Naomi Harry and Mar­i­lyn Mal­lia pre­par­ing and pre­sent­ing a lunch.

The bar­be­cue, ar­ranged and con­ducted by the Sa­cred Heart par­ents, was a hit, and peo­ple flocked to buy the home-made cakes, jams, chut­neys and home-grown pro­duce.

More than 80 chil­dren par­tic­i­pated in the Kelly Sports pro­gram, en­joy­ing the games and va­ri­ety of ac­tiv­i­ties.
