Bid for council funds

-

The Strathbogie Shire Council has revamped its Community Grant Program this year, with new categories that split the funding into project-focused streams.

The grants program, which last year helped Nagambie Mechanics Hall to upgrade its floor, is now open for not-forprofit community groups, organisations and clubs. Applications are open until April 20.

Strathbogie Shire Mayor Amanda McClaren encouraged groups to consider their goals and coming projects and whether a grant might be beneficial.

‘‘Grants are a great opportunity for council to partner with local groups to deliver projects they are passionate about and that wouldn’t necessarily be achieved without financial support,’’ Cr McClaren said.

‘‘We are looking to support projects that promote community engagement and participation, gender equality and inclusion and accessibility.’’

The 2018 grants categories — up to $5000 each — include: Active and Healthy Communities; Arts, Culture and Events; Environment and Sustainability; and Facilities and Infrastructure.

Information sessions will be held on March 29 at the Nagambie Regatta Centre from 2 pm to 4 pm, and at the Avenel Memorial Hall from 6 pm to 8 pm to discuss the guidelines associated with the newly developed grant categories, as well as an overview of the application process.
