Sey­mour VRI

Mid­week pen­nant The mid­week pen­nant team hosted last sea­son’s premier team Kil­more at the Sey­mour VRI Bowls green and avenged last sea­son’s re­sult with Sey­mour VRI win­ning two rinks and 18 shots up.

At this stage the team is firmly fixed at the top of the lad­der af­ter three rounds.

Sey­mour VRI 14-74 def. Kil­more 2-56.

Bill Dawes rink with a 9-0 start at the fifth end, con­tin­ued to in­crease the lead to be 23 shots up at the 19th end then win­ning by 19 shots.

Greg Jones’ rink also started well, up 11-0 at the fifth end and from there on played a rea­son­ably com­pet­i­tive game by not get­ting too far from the op­po­si­tion, win­ning by nine shots.

Mario Furletti’s rink in con­trast gave their op­po­si­tion an eight-shot start at the sixth end with the first end win on the sev­enth end, play­ing catch up for the re­main­der of the game went down by 10 shots at the fin­ish.

J. Tuck­well, I. McBean, P. Del­zotto, M. Furletti (s) 17 lost to K. May­berry 27. Satur­day pen­nant Di­vi­sion One played at the Sey­mour VRI green against Broad­ford in rather a lack­lus­tre game, win­ning all three rinks com­fort­ably by 49 shots over­all.

Af­ter four rounds the Di­vi­sion One team is in sec­ond po­si­tion on the lad­der although win­ning all games played, with a washout last week.

Sey­mour VRI 16-94 def. Broad­ford 0-45.

Luke Spargo’s rink con­tin­ues win­ning their games and started with 11-0 at the fifth end, won eight con­sec­u­tive ends to be 25 shots up at the 15th end and fin­ished up win­ning the last four ends for 25-shot win.

Daniel Noo­nan’s rink was 14 shots up at the 16th end and held on to win by 16.

Greg Jones’ rink was com­pet­i­tive to be only two shots up at the 17th end, but then won on five ends to in­crease the win­ning score to eight shots up.

The Di­vi­sion Two team trav­elled to Broad­ford to play in some ex­treme windy con­di­tions with only one win­ning rink with suf­fi­cient score to carry the other two rinks to win by only six shots.

Sey­mour VRI 12-78 def. Broad­ford 4-72.

Robert Hock­ley’s rink was the only win­ning rink with a slow start, trail­ing their op­po­si­tion up to the 14th end, then took con­trol win­ning all their re­main­ing ends ex­cept for two ends to record a 17-shot win.

Ian Cashill’s rink built up a great lead to be 11 shots up at the 15th end, then failed to score over the next five ends to be two shots down at the 20th end, go­ing down by four shots.

Mario Furletti’s rink played a good game to fi­nally over­take their op­po­si­tion at the 15th end and have a five-shot lead at the 21st end; the op­po­si­tion scored 12 shots over the next four ends for the team to go down by seven shots.

P. Smith, S. Crock­ett, P. Stevens, I. Cashill (s) 20 lost to W. Black­burn 24.

Goul­burn Val­ley Di­vi­sion Seven team trav­elled to Hill Top (Tatura) to open their first game for the sea­son against an un­known op­po­si­tion to eas­ily ac­count for their op­po­si­tion to win by 33 shots over­all.

Sey­mour VRI 14-65 de­feated Hill Top 0-32.

Stephen McGre­gor’s rink had a com­pet­i­tive game up to the 12th end lead­ing by one shot, then with an eight shot score on the 23rd end won by 22 shots.

Wayne Flint’s rink kept up with their op­po­si­tion at one shot up at the 15th end con­tin­ued their lead to win by 11 shots.

Next Satur­day the Di­vi­sion One team trav­els to Eil­don to tackle an im­proved team while Di­vi­sion Two will have a bye for the long week­end and the Di­vi­sion Seven Goul­burn Val­ley team will host their coun­ter­parts from Sey­mour Bowl­ing Club at the Sey­mour VRI green.

The meat tray kindly do­nated by Taurus Qual­ity Meats was won by Joe Pur­cell.

The mid­week Di­vi­sion 4 pen­nant side reg­is­tered their third win from four games and sit in first place.

They de­feated Shep­par­ton Park last week by 28 shots, win­ning all three rinks.

The stand-out per­for­mance was by the team of John Bond, Deane Page, John Sin­den and Vicki Reidy win­ning 34-9.

Af­ter be­ing trounced last week by Kyabram, the Di­vi­sion 1 side bounced back with a 42-shot win against Sey­mour, win­ning three of the four rinks.

The win was set up by Jack Spencer’s team of Chris Spencer, Barb Pat­ter­son and Brian Nis­bet who were vic­to­ri­ous 42-19.

Joe Gat­tuso and Fiona Smith per­formed well in their Sec­tion 1 de­buts.

The Sec­tion 7 side have won their first two games. Last week they ac­counted for Kyabram by 36 shots with Colin Miller, John Den­nis, Lyn Mil­lar and Lyn Sin­den win­ning 39-16.
