Continuum

Nope, this isn’t a spin- off film from the TV show, and don’t be fooled by the fact that Gillian Anderson’s face is foremost on the cover – its star is actually Haley Joel Osment. He plays a genius university student who embarks upon a mission to find out what happened to his theoretical physicist father ( a mumbly Rufus Sewell), 12 years after he mysteriously vanished without a trace, leaving his poor wife ( Anderson) a wreck.

Continuum is less a sci- fi thriller and more a decent little drama that would also work well if it were a play, with characters talking about their feelings as much as they do alternate universes, quantum physics and timelines. Most SF fans will have seen this all before, but the performances – and the odd sudden twist – do make it worth a look.
