Dreadful thing to do
Look out for the winner of the inaugural James Herbert Award for Horror Writing announced later this month. The shortlist is already
out there, including Nick Cutter’s The Troop, Kim Newman’s An English Ghost Story and Josh Malerman’s Birdbox among
the six. Jurors include writers Sarah Pinborough and Ramsay Campbell as well as James Herbert’s eldest daughter Kerry, who described the shortlist as a “fitting legacy” to her father. Any spotlight on great horror literature is
okay by me.
