Release Date: OUT NOW! Author: Ursula K Le Guin Publisher: Gollancz Though inspired by the Vietnam War, the ecological themes of Ursula Le Guin’s 1976 novel mean it still feels topical. In the far- future, humanity has conquered a forest world, setting up a logging colony and using the indigenous species – threefoot high, green- furred creatures – as forced labour. Eventually this pacifist race rises up against its oppressors. The slender book is fairly simplistic, but it’s still compelling and thought- provoking.
