“THEY COULDN’T POSSIBLY MAKE IT ANY DARKER!”

Alfie Allen is Theon/ Reek

SFX: The Sci-Fi and Fantasy Magazine - - Game Of Thrones - Benji Wilson

How do things begin for Theon/ Reek in season five?

He’s alone – as usual – sleeping with the dogs. It becomes apparent pretty early on that he’s in a place we know well. And to be clear, they like to keep it very real so I really was down there with the dogs. It was very dirty and smelly.

And how do things progress?

You’re kind of going to see – which seems to be a running theme with season five – characters cross paths and interact with each other that you’ve never seen or would never even expect to see.

Mentally is he Theon or is he Reek?

I guess mentally there’s been touches of Theon returning in season four. For me when he heard that Robb Stark has gone is sort of like when maybe he allows himself to even go back to that part of his brain. Then I think in season five something happens that makes him think enough is enough. I think he’s allowing that part of his brain to reactivate itself a little bit more.

Will you miss being alone in a dungeon with Ramsay Snow doling out some physical and mental abuse?

I think I’ll miss the intensity of those scenes, but to be able to sort of go back into the wide world of potentially turning back into Theon is exciting to me. But having gone through season five wherever they took it I would just be really, really excited because they couldn’t possibly make it any darker!
