The best

Shaw Brothers kung- fu movies – which rapper RZA continues to homage here – have compelling narratives enhanced by well- choreographed fights.

Sadly, this plot – RZA’s iron- fisted man arrives in a mining village ruled by a cruel tyrant – is as boring as the badly- shot and choppy fights that occasionally break it up. At least the first film had Russell Crowe gulping down scenery, as well as a pre- Guardians Dave Bautista. Here, even RZA’s barely a supporting player, with the most famous face belonging to the bloke who played the baddie in Mortal Kombat. Kombat is actually referenced, but that’s not enough to distract from the sheer dullness of this DTV snorefest.

Commentary; Making Of; deleted scenes. Sam Ashurst
