UNDER THE DOME Domes Day

SFX: The Sci-Fi and Fantasy Magazine - - Red Alert -

While its first two seasons offered more than their share of mysteries, Under The Dome will, in its third year, finally give viewers some answers. Chief among them, the reason why the titular Dome came down. According to executive producer Neal Baer those answers will be provided in part by a new character, played by CSI’s Marg Helgenberger, who provides this season’s “story engine”.

“We introduce Christine Price,” Baer tells Red Alert, “an anthropologist, who we learn has been in Chester’s Mill ever since the Dome first came down. The shocking reason for her being there – but not seen by anyone in the town – will be revealed. We also introduce Kylie Bunbury as Eva, Christine’s protégé and assistant. She too has been under the Dome since the beginning and she will play a divisive role in breaking up Barbie and Julia – and will become Barbie’s new love interest, vying for his affection and doing anything to stop him from loving Julia.”

Season three begins with a two- hour premiere that quickly brings those unfamiliar with the show up to speed. “We will learn that some of the characters we’ve grown to love may be possessed by some strange life force that will cause them to turn against their fellow Millers. Ultimately, this season focuses on the individual versus the group. How can individual emotions like love, fear, anger, shame and sadness be suppressed in order to make the group work together to help bring down the Dome?”

Although creator Stephen King will be less involved this year, his presence will still be felt. “Stephen has got movies and a number of series… but we have his blessing. There’s a creepier factor in this season, which is really paying homage to Stephen.”

Chapter two: humanity fights back.
