In a di­rect­ing ca­reer that spans seven decades, Richard Don­ner has toiled in ev­ery kind of genre from cop flicks to con­spir­acy thrillers but his best re­mem­bered movies are from the worlds of sci­ence fic­tion, fan­tasy and hor­ror. After cut­ting his teeth on TV like The Man From UN­CLE and The Twi­light Zone, he went on to craft era- defin­ing block­busters like The Omen, Su­per­man and The Goonies be­fore re­turn­ing to his roots by pro­duc­ing TV hor­ror an­thol­ogy Tales From The Crypt, in­spired by the chill­ing EC comic books of the 1950s. He even helped launch the cur­rent su­per­hero film boom by pro­duc­ing 2000’ s X- Men.
