This enigmatic German horror is slight (the credits roll at 65 minutes), but remarkable given its film-school project origins. As a young woman acts out recent events under hypnosis in a police station (a clever way to tell a story with limited means), a backstory of demonic summoning is obliquely revealed. Shot on grainy Kodak 7mm stock, it boasts intense performances, moments of eerie Kubrickian stillness, and a krautrock-tinged score. It’s an impressive calling-card for writer/director Tilman Singer.
