Sus­tain­able grants open

The NAB Foun­da­tion has pledged $1.2 mil­lion in grants to re­gional com­mu­ni­ties who are fac­ing unique en­vi­ron­men­tal is­sues.

The Sus­tain­able Re­gions Grants will be of­fered to or­gan­i­sa­tions that are help­ing com­mu­ni­ties bet­ter man­age nat­u­ral re­sources.

‘‘A healthy en­vi­ron­ment is es­sen­tial to pro­duc­tive, suc­cess­ful com­mu­ni­ties, but we know com­plex chal­lenges such as wa­ter qual­ity, bio­di­ver­sity loss, land degra­da­tion and cli­mate change can be dif­fi­cult to re­solve,’’ NAB’s head of gov­ern­ment, ed­u­ca­tion and community spe­cialised bank­ing Andrew Loveridge said.

The foun­da­tion is en­cour­ag­ing ap­pli­ca­tions from or­gan­i­sa­tions working to strengthen co-or­di­na­tion and col­lab­o­ra­tion be­tween en­vi­ron­men­tal groups, busi­nesses, land­hold­ers and gov­ern­ments.

Grants be­tween $100 000 and $1 mil­lion will be awarded for up to three years, with char­i­ties, so­cial en­ter­prises and start-ups en­cour­aged to ap­ply.
