Konigs Shepparton has reached a milestone, with 2017 the company’s 25th year in operation.

The milestone was reached in June and the company’s business development manager Leo Schoonderbeek said it was a great achievement.

‘‘It’s extremely rewarding. I believe it shows my passion for the industry,’’ he said.

During the 25 years, Mr Schoonderbeek said the business had grown considerably.

‘‘The business has grown overwhelmingly to become a major supplier of tractors and farm machinery and now we add to it the motorcycle division, which started in June of 2017.

‘‘Konigs have developed a unique business in retail, wholesaling as well as directly importing from other countries.

‘‘Our mascot Ernie — which I believe is an icon in the Shepparton community — is something we can all admire,’’ he said.

‘‘A lot of our suppliers are still long-standing such as John Shearer, Silvan, Castrol and many more.’’

Mr Schoonderbeek said the key to his longevity in business was due to the people who worked in the company.

‘‘Key in business is the people that work within the business.

‘‘A huge part of success in business . . . is people with multi-skilled qualifications.

‘‘Knowing the customer extremely well (is also important),’’ he said.

The strategy for Konigs’ success comes down to having stock on the floor.

‘‘Our strategy is to always focus on having product on the floor when required.

‘‘The philosophy is if we haven’t got it, we can’t sell it.’’
