Swap meet back in Co­bram

Thou­sands of peo­ple are ex­pected to roll up to the an­nual Co­bram Swap Meet and Shan­nons All Wheels Show on Sun­day, Au­gust 12.

The event will host more than 350 sites from ex­hibitors from three states, with stalls fea­tur­ing car parts, col­lecta­bles, an­tiques, home­wares, lit­er­a­ture and mar­ket stalls.

About 3500 peo­ple at­tended last year’s event.

The Shan­nons All Wheels Show al­lows clubs and in­di­vid­u­als to dis­play their ve­hi­cles in 16 sec­tions.

Rock­a­billy mu­si­cal en­ter­tain­ment is by Miss Kitty and the Mem­phis Trio from Wan­garatta.

Co­bram Dis­trict Health will be at site 444 and is invit­ing men to put their bod­ies through the ‘pits’, pro­mot­ing men’s health.

Men can have their oil lev­els (blood pres­sure) tested, their chas­sis (waist mea­sure­ment) checked, their fuel mix (al­co­hol in­take) as­sessed, and re­ceive in­for­ma­tion about their ex­haust (bowel can­cer risk).

The Ro­tary Club of Co­bram is as­sisted by lo­cal or­gan­i­sa­tions and clubs with the bar­be­cues, gates, first aid, car show stew­ards, toi­lets and rub­bish re­moval.

Gates open at 7 am for the pub­lic to en­ter. Ad­mis­sion is $5 for adults, and free for chil­dren 16 years and un­der.

The event is a fundraiser for the Ro­tary Club of Co­bram’s projects in the lo­cal com­mu­nity and fur­ther afield.
