Goulburn-Murray Water has announced a maximum annual allocation of 100 per cent for all Mid-Loddon Groundwater Management Area customers for the 2018-19 season.

‘‘This provides some certainty to customers relying on allocations for the 2018-19 irrigation season,’’ G-MW customer operations general manager Scott Barber said.

The Mid-Loddon Groundwater Management Area extends from Moolort in the south to Calivil and Mitiamo in the north, incorporating the towns of Newbridge, Bridgewater, Raywood and Serpentine.

The allocations are determined in accordance with the Mid-Loddon Groundwater Management Area Local Management Rules, which were endorsed by Goulburn-Murray Water in 2009.

Meanwhile, in the Loddon Highlands Water Supply Protection Area allocations have been announced, varying between 75 and 100 per cent, based on the August groundwater readings.

The Loddon Highlands Water Supply Protection Area extends from Newlyn, Learmonth and Waubra in the south to Maryborough and Dunolly in the north.

There are about 170 licensed groundwater users in the Loddon Highlands WSPA.

Mr Barber said allocations were determined in accordance with the Loddon Highlands Water Supply Protection Area Groundwater Management Plan, which was approved by the Victorian Water Minister in November 2012.

‘‘G-MW will continue to monitor groundwater levels during spring and advise if there is sufficient recovery to further increase allocations in the Blampied or Newlyn Zones,’’ he said.

‘‘Customers will receive a letter notifying them of any increase in allocations.’’ ■ For more information about groundwater resources, including a copy of the Groundwater Management Plan, phone G-MW on 1800 013 357 or visit the website: www.gmwater.com.au have been announced.
