G-MW probes wa­ter theft

A re­ported case of wa­ter theft near Nu­murkah is be­ing in­ves­ti­gated by Goul­burn-Mur­ray Wa­ter.

The re­port was made by a mem­ber of the pub­lic and came via the Goul­burn Bro­ken Catch­ment Man­age­ment Author­ity on Sun­day, Septem­ber 23.

G-MW’s cus­tomer op­er­a­tions gen­eral man­ager Scott Bar­ber ex­plained the process once G-MW re­ceived the com­plaint.

‘‘G-MW’s com­pli­ance and en­force­ment man­ager im­me­di­ately con­tacted the area man­ager and an in­ves­ti­ga­tion has com­menced,’’ Mr Bar­ber said.

‘‘The amount of wa­ter al­legedly lost in this in­stance was rel­a­tively small, at around 2 to 3 Ml.’’

The in­ves­ti­ga­tion is on­go­ing. ■ In­ci­dents of wa­ter theft can be re­ported by phon­ing 1800 064 184, at any time of the day or night.
