Iconic Golf Cabriolet ‘Best Convertible’
Volkswagen has claimed top honours in two categories at this year’s prestigious Drive’s Car of the Year Awards.
The popular Polo 77TSI continues to impress taking out the coveted ‘Best City Car’ for the second year running, cementing its position as segment leader.
In addition, the recently launched Golf Cabriolet was awarded ‘Best Convertible’ beating two luxury vehicles to claim pole position.
Volkswagen Group Australia’s managing director Anke Koeckler accepted the awards at a ceremony held in Sydney.
“We were pleased to launch the iconic Golf Cabriolet in Australia this year and are thrilled with the result. To take out Drive’s ‘ Best Convertible’ category, especially against prestige luxury vehicles, is a great achievement,’’ Ms Koeckler said.
“Again, Volkswagen’s designers and engineers have delivered a great product and I am sure they will be very pleased to hear the news.
“Furthermore, the Polo has been a great success here in Australia and continues to impress year on year. Being awarded Drive’s ‘Best City Car’ for second year running is a remarkable achievement and one of which I am very proud.
“The Polo is a fantastic product and gives our customers the opportunity to experience Volkswagen’s technology, design and engineering expertise for an incredible price.” said Ms Koeckler.
The 2011 Drive Car of the Year was judged by 12 of Australia’s most experienced judges over a week of testing across 13 categories.
