Hilux 4WD joins the five star club
ANCAP has released a five-star safety rating for Toyota Hilux 4WD utes, which applies to all four-wheel drive single cab and extra cab variants built from August 2013.
This achievement follows several safety upgrades to the Hilux, including a successful side pole impact test, seat belt reminders and improved knee protection.
‘‘The light commercial vehicle market has been very competitive in recent years with more fleet buyers and consumers demanding ANCAP 5 star safety ratings,’’ ANCAP chairman Lauchlan McIntosh said.
‘‘Toyota should be congratulated for bringing the Hilux 4WD ute to this level of safety.
‘‘This is an excellent case study of a strong shift in the light commercial vehicle market driven by safety.
‘‘There is no longer any excuse for fleet buyers when it comes to safety — they should accept nothing less than fivestar safety.’’
While this result only applies to the single and extra cab four-wheel drive variants, it is anticipated that the dual cab Hilux four-wheel drove variants will follow suit.
No change has been made to the two-wheel drive versions so their ratings remain at four stars. For a full rundown on the HiLux 4WD Ute, call into Shepparton Toyota, Melbourne Road. Or call the showroom on 5823 1301.
