Fiat Chrysler Group Finish 2013 in Style
Fiat Chrysler has confirmed its standing as one of the fastest expanding automotive groups in Australia after breaking multiple sales records and achieving double and triple digit growth across its brands for the 2013 calendar year.
The group finished the year with sales of 33 968 units — an increase of 10 229 units, or 43 per cent, on 2012. Jeep sold 22 170 vehicles, an improvement of 23 per cent on the previous year and the first time the brand exceeded 20 000 units.
Fiat, including commercial vehicles, tripled its 2012 volume, achieving 5088 sales.
The Fiat passenger vehicle division alone saw a sales increase of 651 per cent on 2012, earning it the title of the fastest growing car brand in Australia for sales volume according to VFACTS data.
December 2013 was also the strongest single month of sales for the group, with 2611 sales for the Chrysler, Jeep and Dodge brands and 1110 sales for the Fiat and Alfa Romeo brands.
It was the first time total Fiat sales exceeded 1000 in a month.
Jeep Grand Cherokee also posted a record 1431 sales for December, the sixth successive month of more than 1000 sales in a month for the multi-award winning SUV.
It also finished the second half of 2013 as the best-selling large SUV, outperforming Ford Territory and Toyota Prado.
Fiat and Abarth 500/500C achieved more sales in December than for the entire 2012 calendar year. This result also meant the iconic Italian small car outsold Mitsubishi Mirage and Ford Fiesta for the month.
Fiat Chrysler Australia chief executive officer and president Veronica Johns said the result validated the group’s aggressive pricing, broad product offering and support from the dealer network.
