Audi crossover in a compact package
Sporty, compact and versatile: the Audi allroad station wagon makes its debut at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit.
The two-door car is a crossover and so it is not limited to sealed roads. Its high level of versatility makes it ideal for recreational sports.
Its hybrid drive, which is as powerful as it is efficient, makes a new form of quattro drive possible — e-tron quattro.
‘‘The show car combines sex appeal, highly efficient e-tronquattro technology that produces 300 kW of power — yet only consumes 1.9 l/100 km of fuel — and cutting-edge electronic applications,’’ Audi AG, Technical Development board member Dr Ulrich Hackenberg said.
‘‘We are offering concrete glimpses of the near future in this show car.’’
Audi has extended its design language in the allroad station wagon.
The compact two-door show car combines a host of visual elements of future sports car models with the Audi-typical allroad concept and station wagon car body form.
The vehicle has a powerful stance on the road and a sculptural design.
With a wheelbase of 2.51 m, the show car is 4.20 m long, 1.85 m wide and 1.41 m tall.
The Audi allroad station wagon represents the first time that Audi has combined the allroad and e-tron.
