Kia Mo­tors posts global sales growth in Fe­bru­ary

Kia Mo­tors Cor­po­ra­tion an­nounced its global sales fig­ures (ex­port sales, do­mes­tic sales and sales from over­seas plants) for pas­sen­ger cars, recre­ational ve­hi­cles and commercial ve­hi­cles for Fe­bru­ary 2014, record­ing a to­tal of 208 603 units sold. This fig­ure rep­re­sents a 5.5 per cent year-on-year in­crease. In Fe­bru­ary, Kia posted year-on-year sales in­creases in China, Korea, gen­eral mar­kets and Europe of 18.2 per cent (45 704 units sold); 6.4 per cent (35 000 units sold), 2.4 per cent (41 620 units sold) and 2.0 per cent (40 675 units sold), re­spec­tively.

Mean­while, Fe­bru­ary sales in North Amer­ica de­creased by 0.1 per cent (45 604 units sold).

Cu­mu­la­tively, through the first two months of 2014, Kia’s global sales have in­creased by 4.0 per cent year-on-year to reach 425 209 units.

China, gen­eral mar­kets, Europe and North Amer­ica have ex­pe­ri­enced cu­mu­la­tive gains to date in 2014 of 12.4 per cent (108 150 units sold), 2.4 per cent (81 793 units sold), 2.4 per cent (79 768 units sold) and 1.0 per cent (86 498 units sold), re­spec­tively.

Kia’s best­selling model in over­seas mar­kets for the month of Fe­bru­ary was the B-seg­ment Rio with 35 480 units sold.

The Sportage com­pact CUV was the sec­ond best seller with 31 084 units de­liv­ered, while the C-seg­ment Cerato, Op­tima D-seg­ment sedan and Sorento mid-size CUV fol­lowed with 30 326, 18 346 and 13 974 units sold, re­spec­tively.
