Volkswagen delivers more than three million vehicles
Volkswagen Passenger Vehicles delivered more than three million vehicles in the first half year for the first time in the company’s history. A total of 3.07 million vehicles were handed over to customers worldwide, representing an increase of 3.8 per cent.
Volkswagen Passenger vehicles delivered 514 900 models in the month of June.
Developments at Volkswagen Passenger Vehicles in the first half year were stable thanks to the brand’s convincing model range, Volkswagen Group and the Volkswagen Passenger Vehicles sales and marketing board member Christian Klingler said.
“The Golf in particular continues to be a bestseller — not only as a classic Golf, but also in the Variant or Sportsvan versions,” he said.
“The situation on global markets will remain challenging in the second half of the year and will keep us very much on our toes.”
Volkswagen Passenger Vehicles delivered 864 100 vehicles on the overall European market in the first six months, of which 451 300 models were handed over to customers in Western Europe (excluding Germany).
Deliveries in Germany also increased and 285 700 new vehicles were handed over to customers.
Volkswagen Passenger Vehicles delivered 127 100 vehicles in Central and Eastern Europe and 67 400 units were handed over to customers in Russia.
In contrast, deliveries in the Asia-Pacific region in the first half year grew by 16.8 per cent, with the brand handing over 1.50 million vehicles to customers, while in China and Hong Kong 1.39 million units were delivered during the same period.
Volkswagen Passenger Vehicles delivered 282 600 vehicles in North America in the period to June, of which 179 100 models were handed over in the United States.
In South America, deliveries from January to June fell by 21.1 per cent to 317 300 units, of which 255 700 were handed over in Brazil.
