Paulo and Butler are at Ky’s service

- By Gregor Mactaggart

Playing coach Paul Newman and Ryan Butler headline Kyabram’s inclusions for a classic David versus Goliath showdown against Mooroopna tomorrow.

The pair was named on an extended interchange bench last night, with Steve Thomson the only out for a match the unbeaten Bombers should have few problems with against the winless Cats.

Newman looks poised to play his first game since June 18 against Rochester.

Butler, also named in the forward pocket of the reserves, is pushing for his first senior appearance of the season.

He has booted 10 goals in six reserves appearances, highlighted by a bag of four against Seymour a fortnight ago.

Wooden-spooner Mooroopna is still chasing a first win of the season and made just the one change at the selection table.

Jesse Webster returns for his fifth game of the season and has been named by coach Dale Osborne at centre half-forward, replacing Tom Crosbie.

Form, facts and figures suggests a resounding victory to Kyabram, but the Bombers have not quite been firing on all cylinders in recent weeks, with matches against Seymour and Shepparton United resulting in workmanlike wins.

The previous meeting between these two clubs in round four resulted in a 102-point win to Kyabram.

Expect a similar margin here, especially if the league’s leading goalkicker Kayne Pettifer can make a splash.

Pettifer has 66 goals to his name, with Dylan Cornick named to get first crack at the former Richmond forward.

Mooroopna will look to experienced heads Kane Boyer and Trent Freer, and young gun Dean Smith to lead the resistance.
