- By Sionnie Kelly

Shepparton’s Maude St Mall will be the place to be this Friday and Saturday as it welcomes the annual Winter City Market.

A range of bargains will be up for grabs as well as entertainment from groups such as the Victoria Police Pipe Band.

Greater Shepparton City Council place manager Tim Russell said the market would kick off at 9 am today and tomorrow and would include a range of food, entertainment and even an animal nursery.

‘‘It’s really designed to get people down to the mall to enjoy the day, pick up a bargain and shop all over the CBD,’’ he said.

‘‘It’s going to be a great day, it’s a great space to be able to hold this sort of stuff and the traders really come on board.

‘‘It’s a really good opportunity to get people back into the CBD and shopping and supporting our local businesses.’’

Aussie Disposals’ Bernie Hurren said he was looking forward to the market.

‘‘The city markets are always great for us to showcase our stock and the different options we have in Shopping frenzy: our stores and bring people into the CBD,’’ he said.

Mr Hurren said Aussie Disposals had been participating in the city markets for several years and they created a great buzz in the town.

‘‘We offer some really good specials on the day which entice people in — it’s definitely one of the best days of the year to shop,’’ he said. ● The Winter City Market will be held on Friday and Saturday from 9 am on both days.
