Beware of trees

-

WorkSafe Victoria has advised Campaspe Shire Council no further action needs to be taken following a serious incident last month.

A couple was injured and their dog killed when a large limb fell from a river red gum in Echuca’s Aquatic Reserve.

Campaspe Shire chief executive Jason Russell said the incident was reported to WorkSafe and council staff had worked with them through the investigation.

‘‘Council actively undertakes regular inspections of public areas and trims or removes trees as required . . . river red gums are particularly prone to dropping large branches at any time without warning,’’ Mr Russell said.

He urged the community to be wary of all trees regardless of their type.
