The G.R.A.I.N. Store in Nathalia is calling for submissions for Young at Art, its third annual exhibition of artworks by secondary school students in Moira Shire.

G.R.A.I.N Store curator Ken Wong said the exhibition was open to all Years 9 to 12 secondary school students.

‘‘Participation will mainly be co-ordinated through the art teachers at each school, but individual students are also able to submit their artworks by downloading the form from our website,’’ he said.

Mr Wong said the project would provide students working in different schools with exposure to the artwork being created by their peers across the region.

‘‘It will be a fantastic showcase of the creative output of students from throughout the shire that will provide many of them with their first experience of having their work displayed in a public gallery in a professionally curated exhibition,’’ he said.

The exhibition will be opened by Moira Shire Council Mayor Gary Cleveland and Shepparton Art Museum director Rebecca Coates will be a guest speaker.

Mr Wong said entertainment would be provided by Moira Shire’s awardwinning musical group The Delirious.

The exhibition is supported by Moira Shire Council and will showcase the creativity of budding young artists across the shire through a broad range of art practice including painting, drawing, sculpture, photography and multi-media works.

In 2016, the exhibition included the work of more than 60 students from Cobram Secondary College, Cobram Anglican Grammar, Yarrawonga College P-12, Sacred Heart College in Yarrawonga, Nathalia Secondary College, St Mary of the Angels and Glenvale School in Nathalia. ● The call for submissions in the exhibition close today.
