The seven-week-old cub’s strength is improving and it has started getting up onto its feet to begin exploring the den it shares with its mother, Liya.

The cub, whose gender remains unknown, and its twin were born on April 26, however the other bear died a couple of weeks later despite intervention from Sea World staff.

The bears were the third and fourth cubs born at the park’s exhibit since it opened in 2000.

It is hoped the cub will be moved to a public display some time in September.
