Excited staff ready to serve
GEELONG FOOTBALLER TOM LONERGAN ON SITE TO OPEN STORE
Geelong football player Tom Lonergan joined with staff for the official opening ceremony of the new Shepparton Bunnings Warehouse yesterday.
Shepparton Bunnings Complex manager Paul Connaughton and store operations general manager Debbie Poole spoke about the new site, the second largest in Victoria, and unveiled a plaque.
Mr Connaughton said team members were excited to welcome district residents to the new store as well as continuing to lend a helping hand in the local community.
‘‘Bunnings has been part of the Shepparton community for more than 17 years and has helped a number of local community groups with hands-on projects.
‘‘Team members continue to work together to assist in local community projects and have recently built a chicken coop for the resident chooks at Banksia Lodge, participated in a massive clean-up and courtyard planting session at Orrvale Primary School, and revamped the front entrance of Undera Primary School with a rainbow in a fresh coat of paint.
‘‘Bunnings is always looking for opportunities to contribute to local causes and we look forward to providing assistance to more local community groups in the future.’’
Mr Lonergan fielded some questions from Bunnings member Paula Ryan and spoke about his experiences on the field, particularly overcoming a potentially career-ending kidney injury.
