Eight killed near US base

KABUL: Eight Afghan se­cu­rity guards from Ba­gram air­base have been killed when their ve­hi­cle was at­tacked by gun­men, an of­fi­cial has said.

Two oth­ers were wounded near the United States base, Ba­gram dis­trict gov­er­nor Ab­dul Shokoor Qu­dosi said.

Mon­day night’s in­ci­dent took place on the main road near Shah Kah vil­lage, about 1 km from the air­base.

Ten se­cu­rity guards were on their way to work at the time of the shoot­ing, ac­cord­ing to the gov­er­nor.

So far no group has claimed re­spon­si­bil­ity for the at­tack.

Ba­gram Air­base in cen­tral Par­wan prov­ince is the largest US mil­i­tary base in Afghanistan and is a reg­u­lar tar­get of at­tacks.
