Market and heritage rally Sunday
It is full steam ahead for Shepparton’s annual Heritage Rally and Market Day as organisers prepare for thousands to flock to Emerald Bank Leisure Land this Sunday.
Now in its sixth year, the event continues to attract people from across Victoria and provide many with a special way to celebrate Father’s Day.
Shepparton Motor Museum curator Graeme Balfour and Emerald Bank Leisure Land events co-ordinator Helen Moutafis have been working hard to make this event bigger and better.
Mr Balfour said people could enjoy a range of live heritage demonstrations featuring tractors, steam engines and vintage cars and there would also be wood chopping and printing press demonstrations.
‘‘There’s plenty of activity going on all day,’’ he said.
A special aspect of this year’s Heritage Rally will be the inclusion of the Shepparton Farmers’ Market.
‘‘At past events we’ve had 2000 to 3000 visitors and the farmers’ market has been getting those sorts of numbers as well, so fingers crossed it’s a nice sunny day and there could be 5000 or 10 000 people,’’ he said.
Ms Moutafis said with so many things happening it was set to be a bit day.
‘‘We’ve also got a rock ’n’ roll band and rock ’n’ roll dancers,’’ she said.
‘‘We’ve got an animal farm as well as a jumping castle and face painting.’’ ● The Heritage Rally and Market Day will be held at Emerald Bank Leisure Land, 7725 Goulburn Valley Hwy, Kialla on Sunday, September 3, from 9 am to 3 pm. From 9 am to 1 pm at Emerald Bank Leisure Land the Shepparton Farmers’ and Village Markets will be also be happening. The Antique Aircraft Fly-In at the Shepparton Airport will be held from 10.30 am to 3 pm and there will be a shuttle bus between Emerald Bank and the airport to make travelling between the two areas easier for patrons. Parking at Emerald Bank Leisure Land will be a gold coin donation during the event on Sunday.
