Shep­par­ton RSL will drop down a tier for the com­ing Goul­burn Val­ley Bowls Di­vi­sion sea­son.

Fol­low­ing an event­ful win­ter, which re­sulted in the club mov­ing to Shep­par­ton Park, mem­bers de­cided its two sides will com­pete in di­vi­sion two and di­vi­sion four this year.

Last sea­son, Shep­par­ton RSL fielded a top tier side as well as teams in di­vi­sion three and di­vi­sion six dur­ing Satur­day pen­nant.

Club chair­man Ron Thorp said mem­bers re­cently came to the con­clu­sion they change sec­tions.

‘‘We have de­cided to go down a di­vi­sion in an ef­fort to re­main com­pet­i­tive and we lost a few wanted to play­ers over the last few months and in or­der to re­main com­pet­i­tive the mem­bers felt it was best to step back a lit­tle bit,’’ he said.

‘‘The de­ci­sion was made a bit over a week ago and we’ve been in talks with the GVBD since then and they had to al­ter the fix­tures to ac­com­mo­date us a lit­tle bit.’’

Shep­par­ton RSL now use Shep­par­ton Park’s greens af­ter the RSL sub-branch made the de­ci­sion to turn the Wyn­d­ham St bowl­ing green into a car park.
