FBI agent ducks Downer meeting query

LOS ANGELES: FBI agent Peter Strzok’s testimony before United States Congress spiralled into chaos, with Republicans grilling him about the boozy May 2016 meeting in London between Australia’s former United Kingdom High Commissioner Alexander Downer and former Donald Trump adviser George Papadopoulos.

Agent Strzok led the FBI’s investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 US elections before having to step down in controversy when his anti-Trump text messages were revealed.

Agent Strzok sidestepped the Papadopoulos-Downer and other potentially incendiary questions by following the advice of his FBI and personal lawyers.
