Willaton joins hunt for city seat
The field for the hotly contested Victorian state seat of Shepparton has grown with Murray Willaton of the Shooters, Fishers and Farmers Party yesterday throwing his hat into the ring.
President of the Barmah Brumby Preservation Group, Mr Willaton is a retired Victorian police officer with 36 years’ experience.
He owns and manages a quarter horse stud at Nathalia.
Mr Willaton was in the news during the past week campaigning over the plight of a herd of brumbies facing starvation in the Barmah National Park.
His candidacy poses the biggest threat to the Nationals’ Peter Schwarz with both parties frequently fighting over a similar constituency.
Taking aim: Murray Willaton has put his hand up to contest the Shepparton seat.
