STU­DENTS LEARN NEW LESSONS ON AN­I­MAL CARE

Guthrie Street Pri­mary School Foun­da­tion stu­dents learned about the im­por­tance of re­spect­ing pets at a spe­cial pre­sen­ta­tion yes­ter­day.

As part of the Vic­to­rian Gov­ern­ment’s Re­spon­si­ble Pet Ed­u­ca­tion Pro­gram, the stu­dents were vis­ited by pet ed­u­ca­tors Jodie Ho­gan and Stacey Sprunt along with their four-legged friend Trinny.

The ses­sion fo­cused on the mes­sage of re­spon­si­ble pet own­er­ship in­clud­ing the im­por­tance of pro­vid­ing a safe and se­cure en­vi­ron­ment, gen­eral wel­fare, strate­gies for ap­proach­ing an un­known an­i­mal and deal­ing with ag­gres­sive dogs. The chil­dren learned catchy slo­gans and songs to help them re­mem­ber the lessons, with many of the chil­dren hav­ing the op­por­tu­nity to prac­tise their new skills with Trinny.
