Aman blossoms in China

Signature Travel & Lifestyle - - Signature Concierge -

The city of Lijiang in Yunnan Province has been hailed as one of the most beautiful places in China, a potential real-life counterpart for the myths of Shangri-La and now the home of Aman’s latest resort, Amandayan. A complex of traditional courtyard buildings atop Lion Hill houses 35 suites in contemporary style, recalling the surrounding peaks in stone floors and the indigenous Nakhi culture in striking embroidery and intricate wood carvings adorning balconies, furniture and sliding screens. The resort is also home to Wenchang Palace, nestled in an 18th-century courtyard amid century-old trees and carvings. Three dining options cover all tastes, with the signature Man Yi Xuan dedicated to Cantonese and local Yunnan cuisines, while the spa comprises six treatment rooms with a serene courtyard swimming pool. Amandayan is Aman’s third property in China, joining Aman at the Summer Palace in Beijing and Amanfayun in Hangzhou. www.amanre
