Noosa’s le­gendary Long Week­end Fes­ti­val

‘An Evening with the Queens­land Bal­let’ led by the com­pany’s artis­tic di­rec­tor, Li Cunxin, renowned for his au­to­bi­og­ra­phy ‘Mao’s Last Dancer’, will join the elec­tri­fy­ing Stein­way con­cert pi­anist Ju­lian Gargiulo as head­line acts at the Noosa Long Week­end Fes­ti­val, il­lu­mi­nat­ing the Sun­shine Coast from 14 to 26 July. A daz­zling ar­ray of more than 75 events is set to be­gin with a one-off per­for­mance from Opera Aus­tralia: a vi­sion­ary reimag­in­ing of Mozart’s fi­nal opera, ‘The Magic Flute’, re­lo­cated to 1930s Egypt. Along with David Wil­liamson’s new play, ‘Dream Home’, fo­rums, live mu­sic, lit­er­a­ture events, in­ter­ac­tive art, films, cabaret and sup­per clubs, Fes­ti­val Di­rec­tor Ian Mackel­lar ex­pects the in­spir­ing and var­ied pro­gramme to at­tract a record crowd with an ad­di­tional three days de­voted to the event. www.noos­a­long­week­ | www.vis­it­
