Cast off 6( 6: 7: 7: 8) sts at beg of next 8 rows, [34 ( 42: 40: 48: 46) sts], then 4 ( 7: 5: 9: 7) sts at beg of next 2 rows. Slip rem 26 ( 28: 30: 30: 32) sts on a stitch holder and set aside.

With RS facing slip next 16 ( 18: 20: 20: 22) sts (centre sts) on a stitch holder and leave. Rejoin yarn neatly and patt to end of row. Complete to match left half of neck, working 1 more row before shaping shoulders.
